Biography:

Dr. Ashwini K. Agrawal is Professor at the Department of Textile Technology, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He is also an alumnus of this institute and graduated with silver medal from IIT Delhi in 1986 after completing his B. Tech. degree in Textile Technology. He obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York, USA in 1992. He returned to his almamater in 1995 as a faculty after working in the US. His main areas of teaching and research interest are smart and intelligent textile materials, nano-materials, plasma processing, and fiber manufacturing.

Specialization:

• Fiber Manufacturing (Developing new fibers from organic and inorganic materials for new applications.) 

• Nanomaterials for Textile (Production of nanofibers using electrospinning and development of nanofinishes based on nanoparticles)

• Phase Change Materials for Heat Storage (Microencapsulation process for organic and inorganic PCMs and development of new inorganic PCMs) 

• Plasma Processing (The processing of textile and other materials using indigenous atmospheric pressure glow discharge) 

• Smart Textiles
