Farewell of Dr. Varun Arora along with M.tech and B.tech batch of 2020

The farewell ceremony of B.tech, M.tech batch of 2019 and Dr. Varun Arora was held on 29 January 2021 through online mode. They all were awarded for their contribution in research activities and lab management.

Ms. Seema Agrawal and Ms. Peerti Saini were awarded for their significant contribution in "Electrospun Nanofibres". They joined the group in 2019 for their B.tech project.
Mr. Sumit Kumar Singh was awarded for significant contribution in "Water Purification using Nanofibre Membranes". He joined the group in 2018 after completing his B.tech. from Indian Institute of Carpet Technology, Bhadohi.
Mr. Amit Patel was awarded for significant contribution in "Electrospinning". He joined the group in 2018 after completing his B.tech. from Institute of chemical technology, Mumbai and with around a year of work experience.
Mr. Jogendra Rathore was awarded for significant contribution in "Textile Based Sensors". He joined the group in 2018 after completing his B.tech from M.L.V. Textile and Engineering College, Bhilwara, Rajasthan and with around a year of work experience.
Mr. Meharchand was awarded for significant contribution in "Piezoelectric Nanofibres". He joined the group in 2018 after completing his B.tech from M.L.V. Textile and Engineering College, Bhilwara, Rajasthan and with around three years of work experience.

Dr. Varun Arora joined the group in 2019 as a research associate after completing his PhD in chemistry from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. He handled multiple projects at SMITA group and worked successfully in the area of antimicrobial coatings even in the covid19 pandemic time. He was awarded a certificate for outstanding contribution in Technology transfer for "Nanomaterial based Antimicrobial Coating". He also worked in a collaborative project, and was awarded with a certificate of appreciation for making outstanding contribution in research area of "Biomedical Materials" in collaboration with All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He also received a certificate of appreciation for making outstanding contribution in "Operation and management of Smita Research Lab during Covid19 Pandemic". He is leaving the group to join Kusuma School of Biological Sciences IIT Delhi.
We hope they had a good learning experience at SMITA Research Lab and wish them all the best for their future endeavors.

Ms. Rashi Agarwal Won the Best Poster Presentation Award at Bengaluru India Nano 2020

Ms. Rashi was awarded for the best poster presentation for her poster titled 'Nano metal oxide-based moisture management finish for Poly(ethylene terephthalate) fabric' at 11th edition of Bengaluru India Nano 2020, March 2020, Bengaluru, India.





All Testing Facilities at SMITA are Closed Till 17th of May

All testings at SMITA lab are suspended till 17th of May (tentative) as per the government instructions for blocking all the possibilities of spreading SARS-Cov-2.

Prof. Manjeet Jassal Got the Best Presentation Award at UK

Prof. Jassal recieved the award at "International Conference on Water Pollution, Recycle and Waste Water (ICWPRW)" held in London, UK. She presented there, how functionalization of nanofibers can help in removing the toxic organic matter from water.

We would like to announce that one of our SMITA group members is presenting her work at 11th  Edition BENGALURU INDIA NANO 2020.

Ms. Rashi would be presenting her poster titled "Nano Metal Oxide based Moisture Management Finish for Poly(ethylene terephthalate) Fabric" in the Month of March.

We would like to announce that a few of our members shall be presenting their work at conferences in the month of February 2020.

Ms. Rashi Agarwal, Ms. Neeta Prajapati, and Mr. Hardeep Singh would be presenting the poster on the abstract titled  "Structural Analysis of Aqueous based Titania nanosol, Green synthesis approach for phosphorylation of renewable feedstock” and “Metal-Organic Frameworks for Decontamination of Environmental Air” respectively on February 23, 2020 at the International Conference on "Smart Materials for Sustainable Technology (SMST-2020) " at Goa during 22-25 February 2020. 
It is being organized by Society for interdisciplinary Research in Materials and Biology (SIRMB) in association with IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Goa, and SINP-Kolkata.

Farewell of Surabhi jha & Dr. Shipra Solanki

We, at SMITA Research Lab, bid a bittersweet farewell to Surabhi Jha and Dr. Shipra Solanki on 31st May 2019 as Surabhi Jha left the group to join The University of Southern Mississippi to pursue her Ph.D. and Dr. Shipra Solanki left the group to join the Delhi Technological University as a Research Scientist.

Dr. Shipra Solanki had joined the SMITA Research Group in October 2018 as a Research Associate. She was appreciated for her work towards instrument operations and felicitated with mementos by Prof. Agrawal and Prof. Jassal. we wish her all the best for her future endeavors roles

While Surabhi Jha had joined the SMITA Research Group in July 2014 as a B.tech Scholar. She later joined as a Project Associate in the lab after completing her Bachelors in Textile Engineering. She worked successfully in the area of composite fiber. For her work in the area, she received a certificate for outstanding contribution in the area of "Melt spun composite fiber". She was also awarded a certificate of appreciation for making an outstanding contribution to technology development and transfer of "Engineering grade fiber to industry"
As a senior member in the lab, she was also awarded an excellent contribution to "Lab management activities" in SMITA group. After a successful journey spanning almost five years in the lab, we wish them all the best for her future endeavors roles.
