Farewell of Mr. Raghav Mehra

The farewell ceremony of Mr. Raghav Mehra was held on 12th February 2018. He was awarded for outstanding contribution in the research area of Plasma Reaction Engineering. He was also awarded for outstanding contribution in lab management. He also received a memento of the group from Prof. Agrawal and Prof. Jassal.
Mr. Mehra joined SMITA Research Lab as a PhD student in July 2012. He joined Croda India Company Pvt. Ltd. in September 2017 in their R&D division. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours.

PhD position is open at SMITA Research Lab, IIT Delhi under the Department of Textile Technology. Applications are welcome from eligible candidates with a background in Textile, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology and related fields. Farewell of Dr. Kamlesh Panwar

The farewell ceremony of Dr. Kamlesh Panwar was held on 19th January 2018. She was awarded for outstanding contribution to the management of SMITA Chemical Lab and SMITA Analytical Lab. For her research work she was awarded for outstanding contribution in the research area of novel nanomaterials and application on textiles. Dr. Kamlesh also received appreciation for technology development and transfer of low weight flame retardant coated textiles to industry. 

She joined SMITA Research Lab as a Project Associate in 2009. She started her PhD programme in Dec 2010 and completed her defence in Dec 2016. After this she continued in the group as a Research Associate till Jan 2018. She is joining Resil Chemicals as Research Scientist from Feb 2018. We wish her all the best for her endeavours.


3rd SMITA Research Symposium was held on 19th January 2018

3rd SMITA Research Symposium to be held on 19th January 2018

SMITA Research Lab will be organizing its 3rd SMITA Research Symposium on 19th January 2018 in the Textile Department Committee Room at IIT Delhi. The sessions will be presided by Prof. Ashwini K. Agrawal and Prof. Manjeet Jassal. The symposium will start at 9:30 AM, the schedule to be followed is given below.

48th Convocation at IIT Delhi on November 4, 2017

The 48th convocation at IIT Delhi will be held on 4th November 2017. The Convocation will be graced by the Hon'ble President of India Mr. Ram Nath Kovind as the Chief Guest. 

The SMITA group congratulates all students graduating this academic year. We extend our heartiest wishes to SMITA alumni graduating this year. Dr. Kamlesh Panwar, Dr. Deepika Gupta and Dr. Kiran Yadav will be receiving their doctoral degrees this Saturday. Ms. Priyanka Rajpoot and Ms. Kirti Sisodia will be awarded their master's degrees. We congratulate them and wish them all the best for their future endeavours. 

Dr. Kiran Yadav celebrated the completion of her PhD

Dr. Kiran Yadav celebrated the successful completion of her PhD with a high tea party for the department on Wednesday, 25th October 2017. The event was widely attended and enjoyed by all present. The photo below is with Dr. Kiran Yadav in her ceremonial graduation cap with Prof. Ashwini K. Agrawal, Prof. Manjeet Jassal and other members of the SMITA lab.

Dr. Kiran Yadav successfully defended her thesis titled 'Stretchable and Flexible Conductive fibres' on 24th October 2017. She had joined AYM Syntex as Deputy Manager in the R&D division in August 2017, prior to her PhD viva. We congratulate her on the successful completion of her PhD and wish her all the best for her future endeavours.

Farewell of Mr. Gaurav Khandelwal

The farewell function of Mr. Gaurav Khandelwal was held on 16th February 2017. He was a member of the SMITA Research Group from May 2015 to February 2017. He was awarded a certificate of commendation for the synthesis of nanostructures.
We wish him good luck for his future endeavours.

 

Dr. Arthur Wilkinson, University of Manchester, visits SMITA Research Lab and department

Dr. Arthur Wilkinson is a senior lecturer in the School of Materials at the University of Manchester. His work is in the area of polymer and composites processing. His research interests include determining the structure-property relationships in multi-phase polymer systems. He visited SMITA Research Lab, and the Textile Technology in the last week of March, 2017. During his visit he interacted with faculty from the Textile Technology and Polymer Science & Engineering departments. In his seminar in the Textile department he discussed the broad area of work being covered at Manchester, the story of graphene and learnings and findings from his research experience.
