Dr. Siddharth Sirohi celebrated the completion of his degree in an elaborate celebration on Thursday, 5th January 2017. The event was widely attended by people from inside and outside IIT and from a number of departments inside IIT. We hope it was enjoyed by all the people who attended the event. Dr. Deepika Gupta successfully defended her thesis titled 'Influence of Solution Properties on Electrospinning Behaviour of Biocompatible Polymers' on 27th December 2016. We congratulate her on the successful completion of her PhD and wish her all the best for her future endeavours.

Dr. Kamlesh Panwar successfully defended her thesis titled 'Janus Particles for Textile Applications' on 23rd December 2016. We congratulate her for the successful completion of her PhD and wish her all the best for the future.
Ms. Kamlesh Panwar was awarded for Best Poster Presentation in the category 'Green Synthesis and Cleaner Production' for her poster titled 'Synthesis of TiO2–SiO2 Janus particles with highly enhanced photocatalytic activity' at India International Science Festival (IISF) 2016, December 08 - 11, 2016, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, India.
Ms. Deepika Gupta, Mr. Raghav Mehra and Ms. Kamlesh Panwar will be presenting posters on their work at the 44th Textile Research Symposium. The 44th TRS will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi between 14-16 December 2016. It is being organized in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Textile Machinery Society, Japan.
We would like to announce that a few of our members shall be presenting their work at conferences in the month of December 2016.
Ms. Kamlesh Panwar would be presenting her poster titled 'Janus treated cotton fabric for thermal regulation' on December 8, 2016 at India International Science Festival, 2016. IISF 2016 is being organized at CSIR-NPL, Delhi during December 8-11, 2016. It is being organized in collaboration with Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Vigyan Bharti, CSIR and CSIR-NPL.
The 47th convocation at IIT Delhi will be held on 6th November 2016. The SMITA group congratulate all students graduating this academic year. We extend our heartiest wishes to SMITA alumni graduating this year. Dr. Dhirendra Singh and Dr. Ratyakshi Nain will be receiving their doctoral degrees this Sunday. Mr. Mukul Varshney and Mr. Garvit Sahdev will be awarded their master's degrees. Mr. Rohit Kumar, Mr. Mukesh Saini, Ms. Manisha Sihag, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Mr. Himanshu Singh Sikarwar, Ms. Parayana Shree, Ms. Saloni Sarda and Mr. Aditya Raj will be receiving their undergraduate degrees. We congratulate them and wish them all the best for their future endeavours.
A farewell event was organized for Dr. Bhavana Sharma on October 28th, 2016. Dr. Bhavana joined our lab in May 2008 and after a very successful stay in our lab she is now leaving us to join as a Scientist in a multinational R&D group. We wish her all the very best for her future endeavours. Attached below is a poem composed by her about our journey in SMITA.

SMITA Research Lab, IIT Delhi was selected by the Technology Development Board, Department of Science & Technology, Delhi for the National Award-2016 for successful commercialization of indigenous technology. The award is being for commercialization of N9 Pure Silver: developed jointly in collaboration with SMITA Research Lab, IIT Delhi, ARCI, Hyderabad & M/s RESIL Chemicals Private Limited, Bangalore.

Both the technology partners, SMITA Research Lab, IIT Delhi and ARCI, Hyderabad alongwith M/s RESIL Chemicals Private Limited, Bangalore received a trophy and award on the National Technology Day being celebrated on 11th May 2016. The award was presented by Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the Hon'ble President of India, in the presence of Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon'ble Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology and Dr. K. VijayRaghavan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
SMITA Research Lab has open positions for PhD under recently initiated DST sponsored project of national importance. We are looking for bright enthusiastic individuals interested
