SMITA group participation in NanoSciTech 2012, Panjab University

Prof. Manjeet Jassal, chaired a session and also presented a talk on 'Smart Nanostructures: Novel Synthesis Approaches and Applications'  in the International Conference on Frontiers in Nanoscience, Nanotechnology and their applications, organised by Panjab University, from February 16-18. 2012. Ms. Nidhi Goyal and Ms. Sangita Paul, participated and presented posters.  Ms. Nidhi Goyal won the second prize for the poster presentation.

Prof Manjeet Jassal: Chairperson and invited talk presenter at NanoSciTech 2012, Panjab University

Prof. Manjeet Jassal chaired the session on 'Synthesis and characterization of Nanomaterials-I', in the NanoSciTech 2012, International conference on Frontiers in Nanoscience, Nanotechnology and their applications, Panjab University, Chandigarh, from February 16-18, 2012. 

She also presented an insight on 'Smart Nanostructures: Novel Synthesis Approaches and Applications'. The talk highlighted the current and future research efforts and opportunities in the development of smart responsive nanostructures.

1st SMITA Research Symposium

First SMITA Research Symposium was held on January 6, 2012 in the Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi. Twenty three members participated during the deliberations. Eight technical papers were presented during the session.

Dr. Bhavana Sharma, Dr. Naminita Gagoi and Ms. Deepika Gupta were awarded the best research paper awards for their research work.

SMITA group is intensely involved in development of novel technologies for the use of Indian Industry. On this occasion, the efforts of group members made in developing novel technologies and their successful transfer to Industry in the last 5 years were recognized. The following research staff were awarded the certificate of execllence for their contribution in this area:

  • Dhirendra Singh

  • Shilpi Sharma and

SMITA group proudly announces the successful completion two PhDs in April 2011

Dr. Kotresh T.M., who has carried out an outstanding work in the research area of Thermal Protection and Flammability of Textile Assemblies.

Dr. Kartick K. Samanta, who carried out an outstanding work in the research area of Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Processing of Textiles.



Technology development project with SRF Ltd.

SMITA Research Labs, IIT Delhi, signed joint initiative for technology development in the area of functional textiles with SRF Ltd., Chennai. The project aims at developing next generation textile materials for industrial use.

Prof. Manjeet Jassal chaired the session on COMPOSITE MATERIALS – II, in the 39th Textile Research Symposium at IIT Delhi, from 16th - 18th December, 2010.
