First SMITA Research Symposium was held on January 6, 2012 in the Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi. Twenty three members participated during the deliberations. Eight technical papers were presented during the session.

Dr. Bhavana Sharma, Dr. Naminita Gagoi and Ms. Deepika Gupta were awarded the best research paper awards for their research work.

SMITA group is intensely involved in development of novel technologies for the use of Indian Industry. On this occasion, the efforts of group members made in developing novel technologies and their successful transfer to Industry in the last 5 years were recognized.
